MULTI-PREP®TLC SPOTTER |
Current column technology,
using small bed volume, high surface area adsorption resins, enables us
to extract a variety of compounds from up to 20 mL of body fluid using
less than 2 mL of organic solvent for desorption.
This major improvement over previous extraction techniques which generally require a 2:1 ratio of organic:aqueous extraction solvent has enabled Biochemical Diagnostics to develop a semi- automated system for the simultaneous "spotting" of column eluates as they exit the column. Multi-Prep columns, ready for elution, are placed in a rack which fits over a second rack holding a corresponding set of sample applicators. The sample applicators contain a special non-adsorbing matrix which slowly meters the solvent to the plate situated on the Multi-Prep TLC Spotter. 1.5 mL of elution solvent is added to each column which "spots" on the TLC plate in approximately 10 minutes. The solvent is evaporated using a combination of heat from a built-in hotplate and a stream of warm air blown across the TLC plate. It should be noted that the Spotter and tips can be used without columns. Up to 1.5 mL of solvent can be poured directly onto tips and allowed to spot without further operator involvement. Also, the Spotter may be used without tips as an aid to "hand" spotting with capillary tubes. Plate temperature can be varied from ambient to 100C. Ordering Information
