About us
COMPANY HISTORY

Biochemical Diagnostics, an “S” corporation, has been manufacturing products for Forensic, Research, and Clinical Laboratories under FDA license since 1981. Prior to 1981, we were a division of Brinkmann Instruments. In 1981 we initiated a buyout of Brinkmann Instrument's clinical division and as they say, "the rest is history". Our company is ISO 13485 compliant with plans for certification sometime in 2010. Many of our products for export carry the CE mark. We manufacture Detectabuse®, and Stat-Skreen® Toxicology Urine Controls for initial screening, drug confirmation, and hand-held devices. Products include controls manufactured according to SAMHSA guidelines and custom formulations. The controls, in ready-to-use liquid form, are extremely stable with a long shelf life. The Multi-Prep® and Detectabuse® product lines of disposable, polymeric anion and cation exchange SPE cartridges and 96 well micro-plates flow by gravity. Gravity flow eliminates the need for vacuum or pressure flow assistance making this product line ideal for automation. The economical SP/E workstations include the SP/E-48 which enables up to 48 samples to be processed from extraction through dry-down in less than 45 minutes. The SP/E-144 micro-plate configured workstation enables up to three 48 place column stations to be processed simultaneously.

OUR MISSION

Biochemical Diagnostics has, from inception, concentrated its efforts towards improving the “tools” available to laboratory personnel performing drug and special chemistry testing. Our efforts to satisfy our customers never ends with a sale. We take pride in our products and we go to great lengths to insure that our products work as we claim. Working closely with our customers and incorporating their recommendations has enabled us to create rugged products that perform consistently well in the real world.

OUR MARKET

As pioneers in the field, we continue to lead with an ongoing, innovative, evolution of off-the-shelf and custom tailored products in the fields of sample preparation and drug control material. We introduced gravity flow, polymeric SPE devices years before our competitors realized its importance. The Multi-Prep® TLC spotter introduced in the 1980's, and still being sold today, is an innovation that revolutionized the drug screening market and allowed laboratories to process thousands of samples daily with a greatly reduced staff. The Steroid-Skreen™ and VMA-Skreen™ kits are still relevant as witnessed by a current resurgence in their sales. Today, the Multiprep® Sample Preparation/Evaporation hardware (SP/E), combined with our gravity flow columns, is similarly enabling the preparation of thousands of samples daily for analysis by GC/MS and LC/MS. The ready-to-use Multi-Prep® liquid urine drug controls are considered to be the most stable available in the marketplace. Our direct sales customers include most of the major drug testing laboratories as well as medical examiner, university, and hospital laboratories. We sell worldwide through distributors and direct sales.
